Extension Education

The Extension Education program of Nazarene Bible College (NBC) is the college extending itself across the United States by helping district leadership prepare men and women for ministry at the district level. NBC participates in the Alliance for Ministry Development which provides classroom education for students in their cultural context. The curriculum follows that of NBC with the provision that certain alternative courses may be designed to meet specific cultural needs.

The NBC Student Academic Portfolio program is administered through the Office of Extension Education and is available to district students who have completed the Alliance courses. This program is a way for district students to ask NBC to grant college credit for the work done at the district training center. Further information on the Student Academic Portfolio can be found on the Alliance web site, www.alliance.nbc.edu.

Alliance for Ministry Development

The Alliance for Ministry Development is comprised of Nazarene Bible College and various district training centers of the Church of the Nazarene. District training centers are organized and operated by the district leadership. Although Nazarene Bible College has no legal or accreditational connection with district training centers, it acts in consultation with these centers in areas of academic excellence and good practice, curricular development, and faculty qualification and development. Each district training center has a board to direct its operation, fund the training center, and make recommendations to the NBC Extension Education office. Each training center board elects a director who has responsibility for daily operations. The NBC administrative responsibility for the Extension Education program rests with the NBC executive vice president and academic dean, who represents the administration of NBC and serves as a consultant to district training centers.

Model Syllabi

Nazarene Bible College provides to Alliance centers model syllabi for the 24 courses in the Alliance curriculum. The current model syllabi are located on the Alliance web site, www.alliance.nbc.edu.

Correlation Grids

Correlation grids are provided by Nazarene Bible College to assist districts in correlating past and present ministerial training programs with the current NBC Alliance curriculum. The Alliance web site contains correlation grids for Elder, Chaplaincy, and all Deacon tracks.

Alliance Annual Directors Conference

Each summer, Nazarene Bible College sponsors the Annual Directors Conference. The conference is held on the NBC campus where directors and representatives from Alliance district training centers gather for interaction and training. The 2008 Conference will be held June 16-18. Online registration will be available in January 2008.

Student Academic Portfolio

The NBC Student Academic Portfolio program allows district students who become Nazarene Bible College students to submit district course work through a portfolio for evaluation and possible acceptance. This innovative program is an option for students who study at a Nazarene district that teaches the NBC Alliance curriculum. For further information on the Student Academic Portfolio, visit the Alliance web site, www.alliance.nbc.edu.
