Financial Aid Specialist

Work Schedule

Hours

40 hours weekly

Schedule

Normally Monday – Friday 8 am to 5 pm. (subject to supervisor assignment)

Primary Duties

  • Plan and direct administrative and operational activities relating to financial aid and other enrollment/administrative issues

  • Perform a broad range of administrative duties:

    • respond to requests for financial aid information

    • schedule student appointments

    • assist students with financial aid applications

    • counsel students regarding financial aid matters

  • Invoice tuition payment for students eligible for VA, State Vocational Rehabilitation or Tuition Assistance benefits.

  • Secure financial aid information from, and provide financial aid information to students as requested by the Director to aid

    • explain financial aid benefits and confirm student eligibility

    • compile reports required by the Department of Education or Nazarene Bible College

    • maintain student files for Financial Aid, Vocational Rehabilitation, Tuition Assistance and VA benefits , tuition assistance, and VA benefits.

  • Assist Enrollment Services with questions related student financial aid eligibility

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Assist registration with student account information and financial aid status

  • Prepare scholarship and financial aid announcements for the NBC Communicator

  • Send annual FAFSA reminders to returning students and FAFSA instructions to new students.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A Christian whose faith and life are in harmony with the doctrine of the Church of the Nazarene and the culture of Nazarene Bible College

  • College Degree and/or equivalent work experience

  • High level of confidentiality

  • Strong interpersonal skills

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear. The employee may occasionally be asked to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to sit at a computer desk and use a computer keyboard and mouse without discomfort.
