Music Ministries Department
Nazarene Bible College offers campus degrees tailored for Music Ministry. The B.A.Min. Degree with a Music Ministries major is a four-year program planned to prepare the graduate for church music ministry services. The A.A.Min. Degree with a concentration in Music is a 67-semester-hour program designed to prepare the graduate for service as a lay minister in the area of music ministries, including roles such as assistant/minister of music and/or worship leader. Through these programs, NBC provides adults with skills to lead praise and worship songs using their music ministry degrees. Whether it is gospel music, worship music, or contemporary Christian music, we are training adults to become future worship pastors, music pastors, youth worship leaders, etc. to serve God's calling.
Dr. Steven Grimo, Chairman of Music Ministries served 22 years in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel serving with the USAF Bands, Music Branch as a Commander, and Music Director for The USAF Academy Band here in Colorado Springs. In 2006, he was inducted into the prestigious American Bandmasters Association. With the incredible experience and talent of Dr. Grimo and his staff, the Ministry Music department has created several unique opportunities to bring music into the lives of those who seek it. Offered throughout the year are musical programs and events for adults, family, and youth to participate in.
Music Department Happenings
Nazarene Bible College offers a safe college campus and Christian environment for many musical groups. Campus is used for groups to meet, practice, and take classes and/or lessons with our highly qualified faculty members. Offered yearly is our summer NAZ Music Camp, a specialized Youth College program that offers college credit through select programs such as; youth honors choir, private lessons, classes, and ensembles. Furthermore, campus is used to hold band practices for several local bands including the News Horizons Gold and Jazz Band that allow older adults to participate. Whichever way you look at it, the Music department has something to offer for every generation.
