An application of homiletical principles and practices through preaching. Prerequisites: Christian Preaching I.

The following learning outcomes will be achieved by this course:

1. Distinguish the theoretical and spiritual foundations for preaching. (Analysis)
2. Prepare and deliver biblically based sermons. (Synthesis)
3. Integrate exegetical, hermeneutical, and homiletical skills. (Synthesis)
4. Appraise the effectiveness of sermons of different types and styles. (Evaluate)

The following competencies as outlined in the Sourcebook on Ordination: United States of America Edition, 2006 to meet the educational requirements for Ordination within the Church of the Nazarene will be achieved by completing this course:

• Ability to exegete a passage of Scripture using the steps of historical, literary, and theological analysis used in exegesis.(CN-17)
