Academic Advisor

Work Schedule


Full-Time, 40 hours per week


Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, (1-hour lunch)

(subject to supervisor assignment)


Working hours may include evenings, holidays or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events.

Primary Duties

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the comprehensive system of advising and cooperate with that system.
  • Advise new and continuing students regarding their academic program and related courses
  • Enter student information in CAMS, dCourseWeb, and other programs as needed
  • Schedule/register students for online courses.
  • Add/drop/withdraw students from class upon request and notify appropriate departments
  • Give lite technical support to online students and faculty
  • Communicate with students at appropriate stages of the academic process
  • Work with program directors in support of their respective students and programs
  • Act as liaison between students, faculty and administration
  • Identify at-risk students and promote student retention in cooperation with other departments
  • Work in cooperation with the financial aid office to provide guidance regarding financial aid procedures, students’ initial questions, and financial information related to completing the course registration process

  • A Christian whose faith and life are in harmony with the doctrine of the Church of the Nazarene and the culture of Nazarene Bible College

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to handle or feel. The employee must be able to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk, climb, balance, bend or stoop.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.  The employee must be able to sit at a computer desk and use a computer keyboard and mouse without discomfort.
