Words of Encouragement to NBC Students

Summer has passed so quickly in a flurry of summer camps, lawn mowing, assemblies, kid’s activities, church picnics and mission projects.  Also, many students have added the workload of summer classes onto their ‘TO DO’ lists.  And that’s in addition to the other things that are ongoing year-round: jobs, church responsibilities, family, and financial management. Whew – I’m worn out just typing about all of it.

Time flies by so rapidly, and yet there is a dichotomy – that time seems to drag when you are working toward a goal. And the longer it takes to reach that goal -- the easier it is to get discouraged.  Do you ever experience that?

Recently, I have been searching, praying, and asking God to speak to me through scripture and this is what He gave to me to share with each of you.

“Therefore, be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things, God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 4:7b).

A number of elements of this scripture speak to us:

  • Pray
  • Love deeply
  • Don’t grumble
  • Serve
  • Steward grace
  • Speak God’s words
  • God provides strength
  • Praise Jesus
  • Glorify God

Personally, this list seems pivotal to a daily Christian walk – but under stress, juggling many different demands on your time – it becomes ESSENTIAL.

As we start this new trimester, we will be calling and emailing, but if you need us prior to our contact, please don’t hesitate to call. All of us here at NBC challenge you to come alongside us DAILY to embrace the list above.  Let us know how it is going for you and how we can help you! Please know that we are here to encourage, assist, pray, and hopefully, be a blessing to you as you endeavor to honor God’s Call upon your life here at Nazarene Bible College! “Lord, let it be so!!!”
