Trusting God and Seeing His Results

When one is given a ministry opportunity, it is wonderful to count on prayer support. Here is an account of back and forth emailing and prayer for an upcoming sermon.

Joseph: Thanks for your continued support and prayers for my Bible education and my ministry. I’ve learned a lot here at NBC so far. May I ask for your prayers for me this weekend as I was asked to preach a sermon this coming Sunday?  I’m preaching out of the Gospel of John. I’ll be referencing John 6:1-15. Jesus feeds the multitudes. Please pray the Holy Spirit guides me to say the things that must be heard.

Dr. Gary Haines: I have no doubt whatsoever that our Lord is going to bless and honor you, and His message through you! You probably have some notes prepared for what you’re going to say, but be ready for the Holy Spirit to show you some things in the preaching moment that He will bring to your heart and mind that you didn’t even plan on saying! You have asked for His Guidance, and trust me here…He’s going to be faithful to show you what to say, and...how to say it! If you think about it, send me an email update next week and let me know how things went, ok?

Joseph: I want to thank you for your prayers and support. My sermon on Sunday went well. I felt the Holy Spirit’s presence at the pulpit. When there were times I “froze,” God came in and gave me words to say and articulate them. He is an awesome father!

I preached out of John 6:1-15. I also talked about battling demonic forces every day, and we’re only going to be able to defeat them through Christ. I believe the Holy Spirit is leading me to base my ministry on these types of messages (defeating darkness).

Dr. Gary Haines: Thanks for the update! I just knew it was going to go well! And, as I mentioned to you, the Holy Spirit did indeed give you things to say at just the right time!
