He Knows Me
He Knows Me

The Main Point

I love the lights of Christmas: It’s beautiful to see lights on houses and the entire neighborhood changes into a sparkling, colorful, “light show” – especially since the days are shorter and the nights are colder.

I love the Christmas parties: The togetherness. Food, friends and family – what’s not to like?!!

I love the music of Christmas: the centuries-old classic “Yuletide carols being sung by a choir…”, the modern Christmas hits, and almost everybody being willing to sing along – even those people who usually never sing out loud!

I love the family time at Christmas. It seems like just about everyone can remember a favorite Christmas – and this usually involves our families and loved-ones and people that we just don’t get to see as often as we’d like.

I love the “stories-within-The-Story” of Christmas: the Announcements to Zechariah and Mary, the Dilemma and Dreams of Joseph, the Wise Men, the Angels and Shepherds, and the Birth in a Stable.

I would like to think that we all know, deep down inside, that all of these wonderful things of Christmas are just secondary – that they’re not the Real Meaning of Christmas, right? We all know that it’s not about a baby being born in a stable – there have certainly been crazier places where babies have been born. We all know that it’s not about the Wise Men or the Shepherds or the Angels, or even about Joseph and Mary. We all know that all these beautiful things and all these wonderful people are secondary, right? History and theology can tell us many great things about the significance of the birth/incarnation of Jesus, and while these are important, they are still secondary things.

The main point that I love about Christmas is that I know Him personally, and that He knows me.

So, when you’re celebrating, and singing, and being together this Christmas season, stop for a second in your heart, and tell Jesus that you’re glad that He is right there with you.
