You Are Essential

When the government decided which workers were essential and non-essential, where did you and the people you know fall?

Let’s be honest: The world wants to label you. From the world’s perspective, putting a label on you makes it easier to categorize your buying preferences, your beliefs, and to some, your worth.

It’s nonsense. God made you in His image and therefore, you have worth and value. As a child of God, you are essential to His family and to the role you fulfill in Christ’s body.

“The world’s definition of “essential worker” will continue to change. But if we are obedient to God’s Word and focused on serving others through the ministry of excellence, we will be blessed with positions of greatness that will never fade away.” (Jordon Raynor)

Which of us is not absolutely necessary to the body of Christ? In his explanation of spiritual gifts and the body of Christ in 1 Corinthians 12, the apostle Paul asserts, “…those members that seem to be weaker are essential…” (NET Bible).

In the garden, God saw your potential by staring at a pile of dust. He knew then who you are becoming now.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:13-16)

God saw you even then as essential, to your family, to your employer, to those you serve, and for His Kingdom!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for making us all essential because of your great love for us.
