White Coffee Cup Transformed
White Coffee Cup Transformed

A New Thing In Us!

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43: 18-19a)

My husband and I just came back from a very special trip, meeting-up with our son and daughter-in-law in Barcelona, Spain. The four of us were each given a gift from some dear friends of a white coffee cup personalized with our own name on each cup. Knowing that my 93-year-old father was not able to come on the trip with us, our friends also gave me a coffee cup with “Pop” written on it for my father. Our son, David, knowing “Pop’s” love for everything related to art, also sent a gift for him with us of a book of works by the Spanish architect, Antoni Gaudi.

I read the Bible verse printed above in Isaiah about God doing a “new thing” early this morning. God spoke to my heart about this New Year of 2019 and how He would be doing new, wonderful, things in the lives of His children this New Year.

I immediately made a connection between what Pop did with the gifts he had received and what God would be doing in the lives of His children! This morning I also received an email from my father with a photo attachment of the white, simple coffee cup, now transformed, designed with Gaudiesque, Catalan Modernism, painted on it! My father had done a “new thing” on that personalized cup. He personalized the cup further with his own creative artwork drawn around it.

The coffee cup is more beautiful now with my father’s design on it. I trust that as we each allow our Heavenly Father to “do a new thing” in us this year of 2019, our lives will be more beautiful -  designed by our Creator, transformed for His purpose, and crowned with His image as we allow His hand to “do a new thing” in us.
