Believing In NBC's Mission

Giving Tuesday

Today is Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement. If you were to surf the internet today, you would find all sorts of articles on promoting generous giving and many worthy causes are presented. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a day for people to do good, do something kind, and give generously.

It is interesting that Giving Tuesday comes on the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two of the largest days of consumerism of the year.

Unleashing generosity can transform communities and the world. Today is a day to “give back” and “invest in” something you believe in.

Let me remind us of NBC’s mission. It is definitely a cause to believe in. Here is NBC’s mission statement:

Nazarene Bible College is an undergraduate, professional school of Christian ministry committed to academic and practical programs designed to educate students for service and leadership in a diverse world.

Christian service and Christian leadership are so needed in our world today.

Acts 13:2 is the scriptural basis for NBC’s giving theme this 2019-2020 year. This passage in the book of Acts reminds us of how the Holy Spirit directed the church at Antioch to set apart Barnabas and Paul for God’s work, sending them off into the world after a time of prayer and fasting and the laying on of hands. Local churches around the world repeat this scene from the book of Acts every day.

NBC daily receives these called and sent ones who are set apart for the works to which they are called, through a telephone call, a personal encounter, or an email or text of inquiry. NBC students trust NBC’s instruction based on the Wesleyan-Holiness perspective. NBC affirms the Bible as the cornerstone for a proper understanding of God’s redemptive plan for humankind. The college especially emphasizes the biblical doctrine of entire sanctification and living a holy, Christlike life.

If you want to participate in the global movement of Giving Tuesday, you can be assured that your donation will open doors to students. A gift to NBC is an investment in the future of the church and the lives of people who will minister in the name of Christ.

Individuals may contribute cash and personal or real property for the ongoing needs of the college or for an area of emphasis for which the donor has a burden and passion.
