Everyone Using Their Talents
Dr Gary Haines shared a devotional with the NBC faculty and Staff about God blessing us as a team where God is glorified with the end result of all of us put together, like the good news of 1,000 Nazarene students being served by NBC last year.
Dr. Haines shared that when he was just starting in the ministry, at his very first Camp Meeting, he shared the pulpit with Dr. Don Pfeifer, a great preacher. Dr. Haines felt very inadequate and asked the Lord, “How can I preach, compared to the preaching of Dr. Pfeifer!” God said to Dr. Haines, “You are here because I wanted you here. Just be Gary.”
Everyone has gifts. “…in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” Romans 12:5-6
Chapter 13 of 1 Corinthians is all about the body of Christ and the gifts each is given. In Psalm 139, we are told each person is “fearfully and wonderfully made.” We just need to use the gifts we have and make a difference on God’s behalf. God’s vessels are of many different types with different uses. He needs a vessel, clean and empty, to be filled by Him.
The Lord is honoring what the college is doing - All of us using our talents together. God will honor our efforts.
