Looking Back Is Amazing
Dr. Gary Haines, NBC National Nazarene Recruiting Representative, contacts NBC students daily. God leads him in uncanny ways to call, just at the right moment, when a student is discouraged, needs prayer, or just needs to talk to another Christian for encouragement.
Dr. Haines writes: “We’re all about preparing our students that are “called” to the ministry. Knowing Dr. G.B. Williamson like I did back in the day, I would have to think that this email correspondence to me from student, Dianne Wagner was his vision when he championed the cause for Nazarene Bible College at the General Assembly in Portland, Oregon back in 1964. To see how our Lord is still calling students today, and how He helps them navigate all the different steps along the way, and how they end up at NBC… Well, it still amazes me! And when I hear testimonies like Dianne’s, it serves as a reminder to all of us that this is what NBC is all about! Amen? Praise the Lord!
I read her email over a few times, and it really resonated with me. Hopefully, it will be as much of a source of blessing & encouragement to you, as it has been to me!”
Dianne Wagner had an interview at the North West Indiana District a few days ago. She looked back to this time last year in her devotional, personal diary and what she wrote concerning her journey leading up to this point, one year later:
February 18, 2020 - Pastor Stan Zurcher mentioned to me in the hallway at church on the way to staff prayer in the chapel, why not take classes to be a Visitation Pastor?
February 19, 2020 - I called Chuck and Jeanne to ask them what they thought. Should I do this? They both said YES, go for it, get enrolled in Nazarene Bible College, and contact Dr. Gary Haines. Then, Chuck gave me Dr. Haines’s phone number.
February 20, 2020 - I called Dr. Haines, and he gave me a number to call at NBC. Then, I got an Academic Advisor and got the ball rolling.
February 24, 2020 - Our church secretary sent an approval of my Local Minister’s License by Pastor Tim Gates to the North West Indiana District.
Here I am, exactly one year later from my phone call on February 19, 2020. God is so good! Amazing, unbelievable, considering all my fears of … What if I can't do it? What if I can't make the grades? What if I am not smart enough? What if I can't learn to 'copy' and 'paste'? What if I can't figure out the computer technology?
Jesus has helped me, and I am still learning. I love Jesus. I love our church. I have learned so much about The Church of the Nazarene, and I love it. I just wanted to share how Nazarene Bible College has helped me so much. I am humbled at the opportunity to serve Jesus in such a great church.
I am so thankful for encouragement, belief in me, and your prayers.
