Christ Haven Family Retreat

Christ Haven Family Retreat, offered by Joni and Friends will be in Divide, CO from June 21-25, 2011. A Family Retreat is a lifeline to families who want hope and encouragement that will last. You and your family will be blessed, inspired, and make new friendships that will last a lifetime. For more information on this retreat, please see the posters that are on the bulletin boards on campus, or contact Deb Brown at Woodmen Valley Chapel at 719-388-4990 or email Deb at deb.brown@woodmenvalley.org or go to http://www.woodmenvalley.org/index.cfm/PageID/2952/index.html.

What assistance will my family receive? A caring and trained Short Term Missionary (STM) will be assigned to each family to serve and provide any practical support needed to make the week restful and enjoyable. Your STM will be with you at each of the meals and program activities. If you have a child with a disability, your STM will attend all of the age-related activities with him or her, allowing parents to enjoy their own free-time activities without the responsibility of care taking.

How much does it cost and is there aid? The cost of our Family Retreat is $280 per adult and $150 for children 3-12 years old. We realize this may seem costly. Scholarships are available to help families if financial assistance is needed.

When and how should I apply? The application deadline was April 15, but exceptions will be made up to two weeks before the retreat begins or until full. To get an application, please see the contact information at the top.

Short Term Missionary (STM) training will be June 20-25. For more information on the STM training, please see the posters on the bulletin boards on campus.

STM Requirements and Training: STMs must be at least 16 years old; 13-15 year olds can participate with a parent. STMs must be able to serve the entire length of the retreat and attend training prior to the retreat. STMs do not provide personal or medical care. Families that need this type of care bring their own personal attendant or nurse.

STM Cost: The cost to be an STM is $400 and includes five nights of lodging, fifteen meals, on-site training, site fees and a t-shirt. Some STMs may raise financial support, either from their own church, local outreach, or from disability ministry programs. To request an STM scholarship request or an application, please see the contact information at the top.
