BIB2003SP - Interpretación Biblica

Course Description

DESCRIPCIÓN DEL CURSO:

Un estudio introductorio de los principios de la hermenéutica Bíblica. Se presta atención a los métodos y herramientas aplicadas al estudio exegético de la Biblia. Un papel exegético es requerido en este curso. Prerrequisitos: Introducción al Antiguo Testamento o Introducción al Nuevo Testamento y Composición Española con un componente de investigación. (Tanto el Antiguo Testamento como el Nuevo Testamento se recomiendan.) Este curso es un requisito para todos los cursos de Biblia numerados 2000 y superior.

Course Objectives

OBJETIVOS DEL CURSO

The following learning objectives will be achieved by this course:

  1. Appreciate the advantages of a historical critical approach to the study of the Scriptures.
  2. Become familiar with resource materials for biblical study.
  3. Learn the proper format and content required for writing an exegetical paper.
  4. Practice the various elements of an exegetical investigation of a biblical text (historical, social, literary, textual, grammatical, and theological).
  5. Consider the application of exegetical study to sermon production or other teaching event.

The following competencies as outlined in the Sourcebook on Ordination: United States of America Edition, 2006 to meet the educational requirements for Ordination within the Church of the Nazarene will be achieved by completing this course:

  • Ability to identify the literary structure and the main story line of the Old Testament.(CN-1)
  • Ability to identify the books of the Old Testament by genre.(CN-2)
  • Ability to describe the historical context of the major sections of the Old Testament.(CN-5)
  • Ability to identify the literary structure of the New Testament.(CN-8)
  • Ability to describe how the Bible came into being up to contemporary translations.(CN-15)
  • Ability to identify the steps of historical, literary, and theological analysis used in exegesis.(CN-16)
  • Ability to exegete a passage of Scripture using the steps listed above.(CN-17)
  • Ability to prepare, organize, and deliver biblically sound sermons in culturally appropriate ways, using appropriate techniques and skills.(CP-22 Elder)

Course Prerequisites

Introduction to the Old Testament or Introduction to the New Testament, and English Composition II. (Both Old and New Testaments are strongly recommended.)
