A thorough study of public and personal evangelism built on the New Testament mission of the church, particularly as modeled in the Book of Acts. Evangelistic preaching, apologetic methods, revivalism, discipleship, personal soul winning, and follow-up are addressed.

The following learning objectives will be achieved by this course:

1. Discover and develop a biblical theology of evangelism.
2. Develop a working plan for integrating the biblical principles of evangelism as applied by the Early Church into a culturally relevant model.
3. Appreciate the roles of the Christian Scriptures, the Holy Spirit, human conscience, and community environments in the formation of an evangelism model.
4. Learn how to transfer these principles through preaching, teaching, and engaging a congregation in the active participation of intentional evangelism.

The following competencies, as outlined in the Sourcebook on Ordination: United States of America Edition, 2006, to meet the educational requirements for Ordination within the Church of the Nazarene will be achieved by completing this course:

• Ability to think globally & engage cross-culturally for the purpose of mission. (CP-19)
• Ability to preach evangelistically & to be engaged with & equip others in personal & congregational evangelism. (CP-20)
• Ability to lead the church in disciplining & assimilating new converts into the church. (CP-21)
• Ability to identify social & congregational factors that influence church growth. (CP-22)
